Entry level EOS, similar to and replaced EOS 750 except: 700 has no manual exposure settings. Auto focus, AF lock, Shutter priority AE and 8 PIC (Program Image Control) modes including intelligent program AE, DOF AE, TTL flash AE (with built-in flash and 160E) and A-TTL flash AE (with Speedlites 430/420EZ and 300EZ).

Metering patterns available: 6 zone evaluative, partial and centerweighted averaging. LED metering display. Built-in flash (GN 39), 35mm lens coverage, built- in AF illuminator.

Shutter speed range 2 sec to 1/2000 (1/4 to 1/2000 in shutter priority AE) plus B, flash sync at 1/125. Auto DX coding only, ISO range 25-3200, non DX film set to ISO 25.

Auto film load (pre-wind system) (1.2 fps) and rewind. Also available as EOS 700QD with Quartz Date functions. Recommended flash: 430EZ, 420EZ, 300EZ, 160E.
