The Carl Zeiss 35-70 Vario-Sonnar T* Lens for the G2 camera marks another first for Carl Zeiss. This lens is coupled to the viewfinder so that you can see as you zoom, making this the world's only true zoom lens available for a rangefinder camera.

The Vario Sonnar T* 35-70 lens provides total flexibility to an already versatile system. This zoom lens is the ideal solution for the travel photographer, whether professional or novice, since it offers the highest quality images available with the Contax G2.

Lens designers have created a zoom lens with the ultimate goal of extremely low distortion in a wide angle lens. Distortion correction has been optimized to 0.5% at the wide angle of the range. With the travel photographer in mind, Zeiss was concerned about the use of wide angle for shooting buildings where distortion is least acceptable. This extremely low distortion level is usually only a characteristic of the Zeiss Biogon lenses or the Makro-Planar lenses available for Contax SLRs, but now available in the G2 Vario Sonnar 35-70 lens.
