The 135 f2.8 Elmarit was developed at the Leitz facility in Ontario. Its unique ocular attachment made it the first 135mm lens able to expand the 90mm viewing frame of the M2 to a 135mm frame, thus greatly increasing rangefinder accuracy. When used with other M cameras the attachment effectively magnifies the rangefinder image by 1.4x.
