The exposure system can be set for either Spot or Average metering, depending on the contrast of your subject, or the photographer can leave the selection of Spot/Average up to the finder. It will then switch between the two metering patterns according to the lighting of the overall scene. The optimum metering pattern will be selected, and the corresponding optimum exposure made effected according to the brightness of the primary subject.
