Although slightly slower in lens speed, Olympus design engineers were able to produce a medium telephoto lens that is even more compact than the 135mm F2.8. To assure superior image quality, 5 elements rather than the normal 4 were used. This additional element when tested through MTF has resulted in measurable improvement in resolution and contrast. The lens features a built-in retractable lens hood and accepts a 49mm threaded filter.
