Behind the Scenes of a Golden Hour Photoshoot With the Canon R5

For those of us who prefer to use available, natural light provided to us for free from the Sun, golden hour is a magical time. This period right after sunrise or right before sunsets gives us a warmer, more diffused & flattering look than the direct blazing midday sun.

During this time, shadows are softer, colors are enhanced and portraits look simply stunning. The diffused look of the sunrise or sunset gives your subject a gorgeous, ethereal look that can be arduous to replicate, even with artificial lighting.

Armed with a 45-megapixel Canon EOS R5, Irene takes us out into a patch of nature to show us how she gets gorgeous natural-light portraits from her go-to portrait lens, the Canon RF 85mm f/1.2 L. She even mixes things up a bit with a Canon TS-E 50mm f/2.8 L tilt-shift lens and a EF-EOS R Mount Adapter to give us a true look at selective focus.
