Budget Portraits with Matt Granger, Natural Light with 11-Year-Old Camera

Can Matt Granger Shoot Portraits Using Available Light and an 11-year Old DSLR?

Matt Granger is an Australia-based photographer with a dedicated YouTube following. Through his channel and other projects including tutorials, workshops, presentations and photo walks, he shares his knowledge and love of photography to the masses.

In his most recent video, he brings back his ‘Budgetography’ series and shows us that a photographer doesn’t absolutely need the most expensive gear to shoot stunning portraits. We sent him an 11-year old Nikon D700 and a Nikkor 85mm f/1.8 so he could show us how it’s done.

The Nikon D700 is a 12.1 megapixel DSLR from 2008. Matt shows us that with the right technique, a good eye and an experienced subject, a photographer can really get amazing results out of a camera & lens combo worth under $800.  Check out the video below to see Matt do his thing.
