Congratulations to Jake Thompson for being our Top Pic of the Week! With his Canon 5D Mark III paired with a 24-105 f/4 lens in hand, he traveled to high lengths to capture these amazing aerial photographs in the Windy City of Chicago, Illinois. Read more below on the production of  these photos.

At the time I took these photos, I just moved to Chicago and thought that taking a helicopter over the city to capture some aerials would be a great introduction to the city.

Because I took these around sunset and the light was low, I shot most of them as low as I could with the movement of the helicopter so they're all about 1/100, which was able to get me enough light without sacrificing any motion blur.

Try not to use the contrast slider in Lightroom. You can create your own more dynamic contrast by using the whites and blacks sliders, and practicing this will give you more control over your photos as well.

Thank you for allowing us to share these photos. Are you interested in being featured on our blog and social media channels? Tag #kehspotlight in your posts. Check out more of Jake's photos on  his website , and social media Instagram and Twitter
