Photographers are not immune to the urge to chase the latest and greatest gear. Shiny new equipment is paraded before our eyes seemingly on a constant basis, and it’s hard not to get swept up in every promotional storm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But there’s something to be said for remaining grounded, and realizing that there’s a greater value in going after what is practical, rather than chasing what’s unattainable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Photographer Matt Day tackles this very topic in the video below. He knows “you can do a lot for a little,” as his passion for photography took hold of him with just a Minolta X-GM<\/a><\/strong> body and Rokkor 50mm f\/1.4<\/a><\/strong> lens that he picked up used for just $50. Although the kit is no Leica M6<\/a><\/strong> with a 50mm Summicron<\/a><\/strong>, he still learned everything he knows about photography with it and it served his needs just fine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ultimately, if it came to it, he could still document life, work, and express himself with just that Minolta kit.
