Evaluations are typically completed in less than a week, and once you approve our final offer, your check is mailed within a business day. We also offer payment via PayPal, if that's more convenient, although please keep in mind PayPal charges a small fee. Should you decide not to accept our offer to purchase your camera gear, we will return your equipment free of charge.

Reasons to Sell Your Camera Gear to KEH

We know that choosing to sell your beloved gear can be hard, but let’s consider some of the benefits.

Continue the Story

While most people own a camera or other photographic equipment, not everyone uses theirs. So, instead of keeping these items around gathering dust, or worse yet, throwing them out, why not give them new life? You never know what might happen—your old kit might prove to be a life-changing gateway into film photography for a young art student.

In a way, selling camera gear is the simplest form of recycling—you're extending the usefulness of these items by letting someone else have a go at them. Plus, by keeping your gear from the landfill or from becoming e-waste, you get to make a little money, which is always a nice motivator. Selling your unwanted gear has a tremendous positive impact, not only for the people involved, but also on the environment, which ultimately affects us all.

Your Payday Between Paydays

Another good reason to sell gear is perhaps the most obvious one—you get money! Photography equipment has value, even when used, and depending on factors like condition, demand and supply, it may be worth more than you think. At KEH, for example, we pay top market price compared to other retailers for gear received through our website or one of our buying events, and we offer the option for fast electronic payment for people who need a quick buck.

Make the Upgrade

If you're a photographer, selling old equipment can be the first step in the process of acquiring new gear. Say you want to upgrade to a new system—selling off your old items can be the start of a new chapter in your photography life. Trading is a popular option at KEH, and we add a bonus to quotes when sellers opt to trade. This allows you to offset some of the cost of upgrading and perhaps make something that was previously out of your reach finally affordable.

There's really no downside to selling your photography gear, whether you're looking to make some room, cash in or trade up. So, when you're good and ready to let go of your equipment, we'll be here for you.

A Few Tips to Keep in Mind

Pricing on camera gear can fluctuate depending on supply and demand. If you are thinking about buying a new camera, it may be beneficial to sell your camera before the latest model is released, as buy prices generally drop once a newer model is available on the market.

We are not always able to make an offer to purchase certain older or broken items. However, we will be happy to help you recycle your used photographic gear in an environmentally friendly manner if you would like to donate them to KEH. We are able to recycle and repurpose countless photographic items.

We feel that it is important to set realistic expectations when it comes to purchasing your used photographic equipment. In some instances, we can't pay much for older film camera bodies, but the lenses are where the bulk of the value is at. If you are unsure about an item, just ask. Sometimes your used camera equipment may be worth more than you think.

Whether you have one camera to sell or an entire collection, we can help. We specialize in all formats of digital and film photographic equipment from brands like Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm, Panasonic, Minolta, Mamiya, Leica, Manfrotto, Olympus, Sigma, Tamron, GoPro, DJI, and much more.

We believe that our equipment grading system is the best in the industry, and we have a tendency to be very conservative. When submitting a quote, we recommend that you select a conservative grade as well. If a camera is twenty years old, chances are it will not be in Like New condition. It's important to select an appropriate grade, so we can provide the most accurate quote for your equipment. If your equipment comes in at a higher grade, we will pay the higher price.

We have earned the trust of customers worldwide by paying top market value for clean, used camera gear and we strive to exceed your high expectations.
