Two years after the release of their first optical finder, the Leitz company introduced the VIDOM in 1933. Developed by Ernst Leitz II, the VIDOM featured two "L"shaped masks that which provided a continuously variable viewing area rather than showing only the three fixed, etched frames for 3.5, 5 and 13.5cm lenses found in its predecessor. It has a lever adjustment for correcting parallax similar to the one found on earlier finders, but offers increased versatility with the addition of settings for 7.3, 9 and 10.5cm lenses.
