The Nikkormat EL was Nikon's first camera to offer aperture-priority AE with exposure memory lock. The Nikkormat (also referred to as Nikomat) ELW is identical to the EL model with the exception of the option to place AW-1 winder. The winder offers one frame per second. The El/ELW has full aperture TTL match-needle manual and aperture priority AE metering. Features include AE lock (first SLR with this feature), center weighted metering pattern (60/40), needle meter display, hot shoe, PC sync terminal, shutter speed range 4 sec to 1/1000 plus B, flash sync at 1/125, self timer. ASA range 25-1600, DOF preview, shutter speed info visible in viewfinder and electromagnetic- controlled shutter.
