The Pentax K-S1 is an entry level DSLR that forgoes conventional styling to provide a smaller form factor in a camera that still offers the advantages of a pentaprism optical viewfinder.  The innovative K-S1 design also features informative exterior status lighting and new menus and control implementations that make it very easy to use.  In addition to full manual controls and 19 easy to use pre-set Scene modes, the K-S1 has a one setting Auto Picture mode that intelligently recognizes 9 of most commonly encountered picture situations and adjusts an array of camera parameters automatically for the very best results without delay.

The K-S1 has a large high resolution 20 megapixel image sensor that offers excellent clarity and detail thanks to a Shake Reduction system and no anti-moire filter to interfere with sharpness.  In the event you encounter the need for an Anti-Aliasing the K-S1 offers an AA filter simulation option that moves the sensor by minute amounts to get rid of moire.  Perhaps best of all, the K-S1 is compatible with the abundant line of fine Pentax K-Mount lenses.

The K-S1 was originally introduced in 2014 as a higher resolution replacement for the Pentax K-500.  In 2015 Pentax introduced the K-S2 a more expensive model that draws inspiration from both the K-S1 and the earlier K-50.
