Canon S-II Seiki-Kogaku 35mm Rangefinder Camera Description

Canon S-II, Seiki-Kogaku (1946-49) Two versions: Seiki-Kogaku (this model) and Canon (about 70% of total production). Update of the Canon S-I. Looks very similar to the Leica, the newly added combined range-viewfinder was the only obvious differentiation. Shutter Speeds: Slow Dial (no lever control needed to clear the mount): 1,1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/20. Fast Dial: B, 1/20, 1/30, 1/40, 1/60, 1/100, 1/200, 1/500. Has 3/8" and 1/4" tripod sockets. Also differs from the Canon S-I in that the S-II has a unique "semi-universal" Leica thread lens mount; each lens has a helical focusing mount with a cammed rangefinder coupling tube that coupled directly to a flange on the camera body. Some cameras in this line were made with a derivative of the older J-thread flange of earlier models; Leica mount lenses will not fit this mount. Latest versions of the S-II have the Leica thread mount. Lenses were made to fit all three mounts.
