The number of elements in the compensator group is reduced in this lens by the employment of a newly developed large diameter Hybrid Aspherical element. This, combined with the use of a new Double-Cam mechanism which allows dynamic traveling of key elements in a nearly 3X zoom design has resulted in the ability to produce a compact, light-weight zoom providing excellent portability
