This Tamron lens is suitable for use with Nikon cameras which have a built in autofocus motor. There are some Nikon camera bodies that will not power the autofocus mechanism in this lens. Those cameras are as follows: D40 D40X D60 D3000 D3100 D3200 D5000 D5100 Again, these camera bodies do not have their own autofocus motor and require AF-S lenses, which have integrated autofocus motors, in order to autofocus. There exists the possibility that future model cameras will be added to this exclusion list. Please consult a sales associate before purchasing if you have any questions.
