Like the Coolpix 950, the Coolpix 990 accepts all optional Coolpix lenses and accessories, including fisheye, wide-angle and telephoto for the greatest expandability and versatility in any situation. Photographers who thrive on close-ups can get as close as 0.8 inches away from their subjects with the Coolpix 990's built in macro lens. Distant action is only a click away with the superbly-crafted 3x Zoom-Nikkor lens with 38-115mm coverage (35mm equivalent), and a virtually stepless digital zoom up to 4x magnification for a total of 12x or 460mm telephoto. Add a 2x teleconverter for an incredible 920mm telephoto performance.
