1983-88. (2-MS76,2-AAA) Same as F3 but with special auto focusing, battery powered, high eyepoint finder DX-1, that will link to contact on specifically made AF Nikkor lenses. This system has been discontinued and is not the same as the current Nikon auto focus system. The only lenses that will auto focus with this finder are AF-Nikkor 80mm/2.8 and AF-Nikkor 200mm/3.5 ED-IF. 16 other AIS and Series E Nikkor lenses will work in AF mode when the Nikon TC-16 AF Teleconverter is attached between the lens and the F3AF camera with the DX-1 finder. Many other Nikkor AIS and Series E lenses can be used with the Nikon F3AF in Focus-Aid Operation meaning there will be no auto focus, but the focus status indicator inthe finder can be used to aid and confirm quick, accurate manual focusing. Case: CF-6.
