The Pentax 645 120 Film Insert (also refered to as Pentax 'Film back 645') is the film holder for 120 length rolls of film in Pentax 645 series cameras. The holder works with all three Pentax 645 film cameras: the original Pentax 645, Pentax 645N, and Pentax 645NII. Shot capacity varies depending on which body is used. The original 645 takes 15 exposures while the 645N and 645N allow 16 exposures per 120 roll (645 format) thanks to tighter spacing between frames.
By using an insert system instead of modular removable backs Pentax has been able to keep 645 cameras more compact and lightweight. The spool to spool film take-up system loads easily after a roll or two of practise. Extra inserts can be stored pre-loaded if you have an appropriate case.
The exterior of the insert features memo holder, a convenient place to keep a reminder of what film stock is loaded. Simply tear off the film box end tab and slide it in the slot.
