The Tokina 12-24mm f/4 Aspherical AT-X Pro IF DX SD is a solidly constructed ultra-wide angle zoom lens for Nikon DX format DSLR cameras*.&nsbp; The lens offers an angle of view equivalent to an 18-36mm lens in 35mm format.  The 12-24mm offers the ability to take in broad expansive scenes and also focus super close for shots with unique and exaggerated forced perspective.  It's useful for photographing landscapes, travel, architecture, and indoor spaces with environment encompassing views that tell a larger story.

The 12-24mm f/4 Aspherical AT-X Pro IF DX SD was originally introduced in 2004.  A version II was also released with a built-in focus motor
