The Canon EF 200mm f/2.8L II USM is a premium professional fixed focal length telephoto lens for EOS SLR cameras.  Unburdened by compromises and complexity typical in zoom lenses, the 200mm 2.8 II is a very sharp optic while being noticeably lighter, easier to handhold and perhaps even more reliable than the 70-200mm f/2.8 zooms it competes with.  As an L-Series lens the optics and mechanicals are first rate with construction designed for demanding professional use.  The well corrected nine element seven group design uses two ultra-low dispersion glass elements to deliver maximum sharpness, image quality, and accurate color rendition.  With it's bright f/2.8 maximum aperture the EF 200mm f/2.8L II USM is superb in available light and allows excellent background blur (in a very flattering focal length).  A rear focus design is driven by a ring type USM (UltraSonic Motor) with full time manual focus override.  Other amenities include space for an optional tripod collar and a focus range limit switch.
