The Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT is an entry level digital SLR camera first introduced in early 2005.  It continues to be a popular model with photography students and enthusiasts as an affordably priced relatively large sensor DSLR that accepts a nearly unlimited range of lens options.  The Digital Rebel XT is the successor to the best selling original Canon Digital Rebel.  The Rebel XT offers significant improvements including an all new 8 megapixel sensor, greatly improved flash metering (E-TTL II), faster and longer burst shooting, near instantaneous start-up time, independent focus and metering mode selection, flash exposure compensation, 2axis white balance shift & bracketing, improved controls, improved menus, 9 custom function, separate RAW+JPEG files, and a more compact lighter body.

The Rebel XT was also marketed as the Canon EOS 350D in Europe and Canon EOS Kiss Digital N in Japan.  In 2006 Canon released a follow-up: the Digital Rebel XTi.  Also available in Black
