Dr. Paul Rudolph developed the Planar optical formula in 1896, ever since that time Planar lenses has been extremely popular, largely because of superb image quality and aberration correction.  The 35mm f/2 Carl Zeiss Planar T* is an autofocus rangefinder lens using a Planar design's tremendous potential while adding modern updates.

The Contax 35mm Planar G is a 2nd generation Contax G system lens originally introduced alongside the G2 body, it's also useable on G1 bodies that have been modified to adjust the finder correctly.  The 35mm focal length offers a moderately wide field of view that many photographers choose as a primary walk-around lens often opting for it's more encompassing field of view over Contax's other Planar G design, the normal 45mm f/2 G.  The 35mm G produces excellent sharpness so many photographers reason that they can crop the image some if needed.

The T* multi-coated optics produce excellent contrast and color reproduction.  The bright f/2 maximum aperture greatly helps shooting in available light and titanium metal construction keeps weight to just 150g.  The light bright lens is superbly easy to shoot hand held and carry around all day.

The 35mm G's high quality Zeiss optics coupled with G system autofocus and auto exposure capabilities provide performance and responsiveness especially wonderful for photojournalism and documentary photography; this remarkable implementation of a versatile focal length is also superlative anytime rich tonality and superior clarity are a primary concern.

**Note: when removing or mounting the lens to the camera, do NOT turn the black piece closest to the camera body.  Turn the middle ring on the lens instead.  Turning the black piece closest to the body forcibly can cause damage to body and lens AF contacts.  Useable on Contax G2 bodies.  Useable on Contax G1 bodies that have been modified to allows use.
