The Planar T* F/1.7 50mm lens is designed to combine the top performance of its predecessor, the Planar T* F/1.4 50mm lens, which has, among Zeiss lenses, won the highest critical praise, with a smaller size and more reasonable price. Despite the 6 groups of 7 elements configuration which is more than enough for the brightness in this class of lens, the lens features both a light weight and a compact size, and together with the multiplayer T* coating it guarantees crispy clear and well-contrasted pictures. While it yields portraits with a natural perspective devoid of any artificiality, the lens can also provide wide-angle and telephoto effects in line with the handling of the background and the camera angle. In all, it presents handling convenience and a wide application range in a single handy package and this alone makes it ideal for ordinary photography, night-time and indoor photography, and close-ups and copies
