The Fujifilm X-E2 is a fast and lightweight mirrorless camera featuring an X-Trans CMOS II & EXR Processor II; it's loaded with features that make it a perfect camera for street and travel photography.

The XE-2 uses a 2nd generation X-Trans CMOS sensor which forgoes an optical low-pass filter (OLPF) in favor of capturing crisp details.  The X-Trans Sensor color filter array uses a more random pattern than the Bayer Pattern arrays on conventional sensors; this results in pleasing images with more film like noise characteristics.

To achieve edge-to-edge image quality with incredible sharpness, advanced Lens Modulation Optimizer (LMO) technology was developed into the processor.  The LMO takes into account the mounted focal length and aperture of the lens, as well as data from the screen center to the edges, and corrects diffraction blur when shooting with a stopped down aperture.  This compensates for the slight blurring in the lens; especially in poor lighting conditions.

The 2.36 million dot Organic EL Panel electronic viewfinder is constructed of two glass lenses and a double aspherical lens and provides a comfortable and "Natural Look" distortion-free view of the entire scene with a horizontal apparent field of view of 25°.

The Fujifilm X-E2 utilizes a hybrid on-sensor phase and contrast AF detection system.  This Intelligent Hybrid AF system automatically chooses the correct AF system based on the current scene lighting, allowing you to bring your subject into sharp focus even in low-contrast environments.

With a dual CPU, the EXR Processor II doubles the processing speed of previous generations and has a start-up time of approximately 0.5 seconds.  This allows for a shooting interval of 0.5 seconds and a shutter lag of just 0.05 seconds.  The dual CPU has raised the maximum continuous shooting speed to 7 fps (3 fps with AF tracking enabled) for up to 28 frames.

Employing a classic design with a nod to the film age, the Fujifilm X-E2 features an analog interface with dials for aperture, shutter speed and exposure compensation and is equipped with a viewfinder that allows you to select your composition.  The camera was built tough, with a magnesium die-cast top and front cover.
