Introduced in 1978 and produced predominantly by Leitz, Canada the M4-2 is basically an M4 without self-timer. The major difference between the two models is that the M4-2 is designed to accept a motor winder allowing film to be exposed at up to 3 frames per second.
Except for 1000 gold-plated models commemorating Oskar Barnack's birth centenary, the other approximately 16,000 made were finished in black chrome.

The classic series of Leica M (bayonet) cameras have a long history as one of the most popular camera systems in history. Many famous photos in the last century were taken with Leica rangefinder model cameras.
The model M4 is one of the most desired. It features a more modern look but retains the popular functions of the earlier models. Manufactured 1967 to 1975
