The Nikon D3x is a professional full frame camera with good image quality, abundant useful features and quality construction.

The housing is a magnesium alloy weather sealed body with a vertical grip and second shutter button allowing for easier shooting in portrait orientation. A 24.5 MegaPixel Full Frame CMOS sensor captures images with excellent detail and broad dynamic range. The EXPEED images processer can deliver 14 Bit Raw files. The EXPEED processor minimizes noise while ISO's range up to 1600 (extendable to 6400). Burst shooting is possible at up to 5 fps frames per second. Dual CF card slots allow extra flexibility/redundancy for saving images. The large bright 100% coverage viefinder also features interchangeable focusing screen. The autofocus system features 51 AF points with 15 of them being cross type. Predictive 3D-tracking AF incorparates lens distance information when available for the fastest possible autofocus with challenging action. Live View offers contrast detect autofocus directly at the focal plane, perfect for macro photography. On the back a large 3'' 922,000 dot screen is great for looking through photos, menus, and settings. Ambient exposure options are extensive and a second generation 3D Color Matrix Meter with 1005 color detecting pixels is very accuarate in a broad range of situations and especially helpful under rapidly changing light conditions, Spot Metering can also be tied to the active AF point. Flash options are plentiful also thanks to an accurate I-TTL metering system. This is simply a great pro camera for any sort of situation.

Introduced December 2008, Nikon D3X 35mm DSLR is a 24.5 megapixel camera that features a full frame CMOS sensor (FX format), ISO range up to 6400, 5 fps continuous shooting, and a variety of file formats. The D3X is equipped with a 1,005 pixel 3D Color Matrix Metering II with scene recognition system, full picture control with four present options, and a 51-point AF system.
