(2-MS76) Pentax K bayonet lens mount. Introduced in 1976 with it's sister model the Pentax MX and a new line of compact lenses called the SMC Pentax M lenses.
Similar to the MX except the: ME is slightly smaller, has Aperture Priority AE metering only (no manual metering and no shutter speed dial for manual shutter speed selection), extended shutter speed range, slightly extended ISO film speed range, higher flash synch shutter speed (1/100), no DOF preview, no inter- changeable focusing screen.
ME specifications: * Manual focus. * TTL metering, GPD metering cells. * Aperture priority AE metering only. * Center weighted metering pattern. * LED metering display in VF shows shutter speed scale. * AE compensation: +/- 2 stops. * Hot shoe and PC sync terminal. * Newly designed, electronically controlled, vertical moving metal blade shutter by Seiko. * Shutter speed range: 8 sec - 1/1000 plus B. * No shutter speed dial for manual shutter speed selection, however, * Mechanical shutter speed settings: 1/100 and B. * Flash sync at 1/100. * Self timer. * ISO film speed range: 12-1600, set manually. * Manual film advance and rewind. * Mechanical cable release socket. * The word Asahi engraved on prism housing.
