The Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 SP Di VC USD is a fast high end zoom lens with stabilization and focal lengths in the wide angle to standard range. It was actually the world's first f/2.8 standard zoom lens with image stabilization and coverage for a full frame 35mm film sized sensor. The lens is available for both Canon and Nikon mounts, the A007 in Canon mount is also commonly referred to as the A007C.

The 24-70mm f/2.8 SP Di VC USD is truly a remarkable feat of optical and mechanical engineering. Tamron's own improved VC (Vibration Compensation) image stabilization assembly reduces loss of image sharpness caused by camera and lens shake and opens up new options for shooting available light and slow sync images in this zoom range. The USD (Ultrasonic Silent Drive) motor provides fast and quiet autofocusing as well as full time manual focus override. This is a SP (Super Performance) series lens so the top priority is image quality. The impressive 17 element 12 group optical design makes abundant use of specialized glass including two XR (Extra Refractive Index) elements, three LD (Low Dispersion) elements, three molded glass aspheric elements, and a Hybrid aspheric element. Tamron has minimized all types of chromatic aberration in the A007, making it a lens at the top of its class whether you use it on a digital APS-C, full-frame, or 35mm SLR camera. The A007's optics with f/2.8 maximum aperture and rounded blades enable balance between brilliant resolution and beautiful background blur. The 24-70mm f/2.8 SP Di VC also has dust and moisture resistant seals.

The 24-70mm f/2.8 SP Di VC USD real workhorse utility lens for general photography. Being able to instantly transition from wide for groups to 70mm with more of a portrait perspective makes it well suited as a special event photography lens. It's an especially good wedding photography lens on APS-C format bodies where it yields a field of view equivalent to what 36 to 105mm would produce on a full frame sensor(just wide enough for groups without noticeable perspective stretching and long enough for flattering portraits). This is pretty much the perfect lens for any Canon Digital SLR owner. Just about everyone needs a good standard zoom lens and when you get this pro level performance and very reasonable pricing it's hard to go wrong.
