7Artisans 35mm f/2 Manual Leica M-Mount Lens in Silver
The 7Artisans 35mm f/2 is a fully manual lens built for Leica M-mount shooters who want a classic 35mm perspective without the classic price. At f/2, you have enough light-gathering capability for low-light street work and indoor shooting, with the ability to separate a subject from background at moderate focus distances. Both focus and aperture are controlled manually, which suits the deliberate, frame-by-frame pace that M-mount photography demands.
The 43mm filter thread keeps the front element compact, consistent with the low-profile design expectations of rangefinder systems. The silver finish matches the aesthetic of chrome-bodied Leica M cameras and complements silver-finish film bodies in particular. There are no electronic contacts, so metering depends on your camera's stop-down or manual metering workflow.
For shooters already committed to the M-mount ecosystem and looking to add a working 35mm without significant outlay, this lens puts a practical focal length in hand at a fraction of what legacy glass commands.
Who It's For
Street photographers working with Leica M bodies will find the 35mm field of view and f/2 aperture well-suited to mixed-light environments where fast primes earn their place. Film photographers pairing it with a chrome or silver M-series body get a lens that fits the look and the manual-only workflow. Travel photographers who want a compact, light kit built around a single focal length benefit from the 43mm filter thread keeping accessories small. New M-mount shooters exploring the system without committing to expensive glass get genuine rangefinder-compatible optics at an accessible entry point.
