The Canon EOS 1000D is a economized yet feature rich Digital Camera perfect for aspiring photographers on a budget who still want excellent results and good expansion options. The 1000D was introduced in mid 2008 just a few months after it's sibling the slightly more expensive EOS 450D. The 1000D offers most of the same features and functionality as the 450D but uses a smaller 2.5" LCD screen, a slightly lower resolution 10 megapixel sensor, fewer autofocus sensor points, and a less sensitive center focus point; the 1000D also forgoes the 4% spot meter, uses a textured plastic grip surface instead of an elastomer covered surface, and omits IR remote control connectivity in favor of a corder remote socket.
With the most important features and great pricing, EOS 1000D is a tremendous value in a camera that opens up the world of high quality photography to more people; it's perfect for photography students and enthusiasts as well as families.
The EOS 1000D was also marketed as the Canon EOS Kiss X50 in Japan and as the Canon EOS Rebel XS in the Americas.
