The Canon EF 300mm f/2.8 L IS USM II is a large aperture telephoto lens for EF Mount EOS Cameras. It's Canon's top of the line 300mm lens, designed to offer professionals the best possible image quality while shooting in demanding situations.

Like all L Series lenses it's designed & built to very high standards and has to live-up to and improve upon the performance set by previous models. Optically it's Canon's best 300mm yet. The new optical formulation of 16 elements in 12 groups utilizes two Flourite elements and the latest in coating advances including SWC (Sub Wavelength Coating) for maximum correction, sharpness, and contrast.

The updated optical Image Stabilization system is more responsive and includes a new less distracting third mode that only engages the system at the moment of exposure.

Focus speed has also been improved thanks to a new CPU and focus algorithms. A USM motor provides fast accurate and quiet focus movement with full time manual focus override. The new Power Focus mode allows smoother powered focus changes via the knurled focus ring recall ring when shooting video. Other autofocus customization amenities include AF lock buttons and three focus distance limit ranges.

Weight has been reduced about 10% compared to the previous model by strategic use of magnesium and titanium.

The rotating tripod collar is a standard included accessory and has strap mounting points. Other accessories include the ET-120 Lens Hood, 300B Lens Case, as well as Canon L Series Tele-Extenders.

Dust and water sealing keeps the lens functioning even in less than ideal conditions and magnesium and titanium construction elements make it 3 lb lighter than its predecessor. Fluorine coating on the front and rear lens surfaces allows dirt to be removed easily and an attachment slot is provided for a wire-type security lock.
