The Canon EF 24mm f/1.4L II USM is a top of the line pro level wide-angle lens for EOS EF mount cameras. True to it's professional L series designation, the EF 24mm f/1.4L uses Canon's latest lens technologies to deliver spectacular sharpness and impressive performance at all settings. Two high-precision, large-diameter aspherical lenses help ensure sharpness across the image plane, even in the peripheral areas of full-frame sensors. The highly corrected 13 element 10 group design also incorporates two UD Lens elements to minimize chromatic aberrations. The lens notably features a newly-designed anti-reflective SWC (Sub Wavelength Coating) that (unlike conventional coatings) uses extremely fine small scale structure to more uniformly affect light waves regardless of their angle to the optical surface; the SWC enables dramatic minimization of ghosting and flaring. The rear focusing design is coupled with to a super fast ring type USM (UltraSonic Motor) with full time manual focus override. The ultra bright f/1.4 maximum aperture allows ultimate shooting flexibility along with easy viewing. As you would expect at this level the lens also has dust and water resistant L-series construction
Introduced in 2009 the EF 24mm f/1.4L II is the successor to the original EF 24mm f/1.4 from 1997. The version II is a significant optical upgrade that is of particular value to photographers with ultra high resolution sensors.
