Hasselblad 503CW Medium Format Camera Body, Chrome

The Hasselblad 503CW is a proffesional 6x6 medium format film camera. As a step up from the base 500 Series models, the 503 series cameras incorporate a well implemented real time TTL-OTF (Through The Lens -Off The Film) flash metering sensor, designed to make life easier for wedding and portrait photographers using on camera flash on location; A user simply needs to set the film ISO on the 503 body and connect a compatible flash (Hasselblad D-Flash 40, etc.) unit's cord to both the camera body TTL connection port and the lens flash sync socket.

The 503CW was the first Hasselblad to feature a new Gliding Mirror System that does not vignette the viewfinder image when using longer focal length lenses (100mm or longer) in the way earlier models do.

Hasselblad introduced a optional accessory with the announcement of the 503CW: the Winder CW is a removable automatic film winder and righthand grip which interchanges with the 503CW's removable folding rapid wind crank and provides the option remotely triggering the shutter and advancing the frame with an infrared remote (especially useful for studio portraits).

In 503CW also enjoys all the same features of the the 501C including Hasselblads legendary all metal construction and robust all mechanical design. With chromed trim the 503CW has the unmistakably classic Hasselblad look.

A waist level finder is a typical accoutrement allowing convenient viewing in a bright compact collapsible finder with pop-up magnifier for critical focusing. Multiple viewfinder prisms are available with and without ambient light meters. A range of user interchangeable focusing screens are available. The Side strap mounding points require proprietary Hasselblad lugs. A range of 120, 220 and 70mm film backs are available separately. Perhaps most importantly the 503CW accepts world class Hasselblad C, CF, CFI, CB, & CFE leaf shutter lenses using only the best Carl Zeiss and Schnieder optics, need we say more?

The 503CW is a modern, updated version of the classic Hasselblad 500C/M cameras. Incorporating a center-weighted TTL-OTF flash metering system into a fully mechanical body it furthers the tradition of excellence that has made Hasselblad cameras a favorite choice of the pros for fifty years. The new patented Gliding Mirror System (GMS) ensures a full viewfinder image with all lenses regardless of focal length. Compatible with all C and CF series lenses with between the lens shutters, flash sync is possible at any speed from 1 to 1/500 second plus B.
