JVC Everio GZ-HD7U: HD Recording With 60GB Built-In Storage
The GZ-HD7U handles HD video at 1920x1080 without ever touching a memory card. JVC built a 60GB hard disk drive right into the camcorder body, so you record, review, and archive footage without swapping media mid-shoot. For anyone who has missed a moment fumbling with a tape or a full card, that internal drive changes the calculus entirely.
The fixed lens keeps the design simple. There's no mount to worry about, no glass to buy separately, just point and record. That simplicity pairs well with the HD output, since 1080 resolution footage benefits from a camcorder that stays out of your way operationally.
Storage this large built directly into the unit means long-form recording sessions, family events, or documentary-style shooting don't require constant management. You shoot, you stop when you're done, not when you run out of space. The black finish keeps things understated on camera, which matters when you're trying to stay unobtrusive during events or candid documentary work.
A camcorder that solves the storage problem this directly is worth having in the bag.
Who It's For
Event shooters covering weddings or long ceremonies benefit from the 60GB internal hard disk drive, since it removes the need to track or swap memory cards during hours of continuous recording. Documentary and home-video shooters recording extended family gatherings or milestone events get the same advantage: record until the drive fills than until a card does. Anyone new to camcorders who wants a simple fixed-lens setup will appreciate not having to manage separate lenses or mounts. Videographers who prioritize HD output at 1920x1080 for archiving personal or family footage get a dependable resolution standard without added complexity in the recording chain.
