In 1956 Leica released a special version of the popular 50 f2 Summicron. Equipped with a removable finder that corrects for parallax, it allows focusing and viewing as close as 19 inches (48cm). With the viewfinder removed the lens functions as a standard normal lens. Produced until 1968, approximately 55,000 of these unique lenses were made.
