It's ability to work in poor or dimly lit environments lets you creates smooth images without having to increase digital noise through higher ISO values.
The 50 Summicron-M has a solid durable all metal design. The aperture ring clicks from f/2-16 in ? stop increments. Originally introduced in 1979, this 11819 version performs so remarkably well that Leica kept the same optical design when replacing it in 1994 with the 11826 which features a built-in lens hood; with the same effective optics the 11819 has remained quite popular.
