The Leica 50mm f/2 Summicron-M (11826) is a renowned standard lens for the M-mount system. It's a great general purpose lens that produces a normal field of view with the beautiful image quality Leica is famous for.
The double gausss lens design uses 6 elements in 4 groups, as well as eight aperture blades. The Leica 50mm f/2 Summicron is an excellent lens producing outstanding sharpness, bokeh, and accurate color rendition. Even wide-open with narrow depth-of-field, no coma can be discerned in the image area and the Summicron 50mm produces high-quality contrast, distortion-free, sharp photos with minimal vignetting or ghosting. The 50 Summicron-M has a solid durable all metal design. The aperture ring clicks from f/2-16 in ? stop increments. Originally introduced in 1994, this 11826 version effectively uses the same much loved optical design from the previous 50mm f/2 Summicron-M (11819) but with a revised mechanical design that includes a built-in lens hood. This particular Summicron-M (11826) is 6-Bit coded to allow digital M cameras to automatically identify the lens as soon as it's mounted for adjustments based on it's unique optical characteristics and for EXIF information. The convenient built-in lens hood keeps the lens ultra compact and is ready to deploy quickly whenever needed. It's a very pleasant lens to carry and use, perfect for street, landscape, portraits, indoor scenes and so much more.
