A year before Canon's A1 made it's debut, Minolta released the XD11, making it the world's first camera with a multi-mode exposure system. In addition, the XD11 (marketed as the XD7 in Europe and XD in Japan) featured an automatic compensation system when using the Shutter Priority mode.
