Description

The Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VRII Zoom Lens is a great one-lens solution for Nikon DX-format digital SLR cameras (DSLRS).  Its broad wide angle to telephoto focal range gives photographers a versatile tool to get the shot without having to switch lenses.  The angle of view is the equivalent of a 27-300mm lens in 35mm format.

The lens was engineered for image superior quality: two ED (Extra Low Dispersion) glass elements offers superior sharpness and color correction by effectively minimizing chromatic aberration, even at wide aperture settings.  Three aspherical lens elements eliminate coma and other aberrations, even at wide apertures.  Nikon's Super Integrated Coating (SIC) enhances light transmission and offers superior color consistency and reduced flare. Additionally, a 7-blade diaphragm which renders captured images with natural-looking out-of-focus elements.

The internal focusing (IF) design incorporates Nikon's Silent Wave Motor (SWM) to for smooth, quiet, accurate, and quick focusing.  Autofocus (A) or manual (M) modes can easily be selected with a focus mode switch, and a manual override function allows the shooter to quickly change from auto to manual focusing

The integral VR (Vibration Reduction) II image stabilization system lets the photographer hand-hold the camera and enable shooting up to 4 stops slower than with non-VR II lenses.  Plus, VR II increases the range of usable shutter speeds and makes telephoto shooting much easier without a tripod.

Introduced by Nikon in 2009 the Nikkor 18-200mm F/3.5-5.6 G ED IF AF-S DX VR II (Nikon USA part# 2192) is the replacement for the Nikkor 18-200mm F/3.5-5.6 G ED IF DX AF-S VR (Nikon USA part# 2159) that adds a convenient zoom lock switch which prevents gravity from extending the double telescoping zoom mechanism as the lens when shoulder carried, a very handy feature for travel.
