Pentax's second DSLR to enter into the DSLR market, the *ist DS surely did not disappoint. The Pentax *ist D integrated ultimate performance, 6.1-megapixel CCD sensor, 2" LCD panel, and pentaprism viewfinder covering 95% of the field of view. The *ist DS is one of the smallest, lightweight DSLRs to compete in the photographic world weighing 17.8oz and 3.64 inches in length. The *ist DS has JPEG, RAW, JPEG+RAW file formats while sporting 11-point AF with SAFOX VIII Phase-matching AF system for precise and fast autofocusing, 16-segment multi-pattern metering system, an array of adjustable custom functions, 1/4000th high-speed shutter, noise reduction for long exposures, and various exposure modes. The integrated Hyper Program allows the user to choose from High Shutter Speed Priority, Depth Priority, MTF Priority, or normal Program. The Ergonomic controls and rugged body design delivers high performance when coupled with Pentax K mount lens, the *ist DS can be a great experience for any photographer.
