The Planar T* 50mm f/1.4 ZA SSM is a Sony Carl Zeiss® full-frame, large-aperture, single-focal-length lens with an all-new optical design that sets new standards in resolving power and contrast. Its optical technology smooth out aberrations and minimizes field curvature for flat, distortion-free pictures across the entire frame. The incorporated Super Sonic wave Motor (SSM) ensures autofocusing is smooth, silent and discreet. The 9-blade circular aperture lets you explore the visual possibilities of defocus or ‘bokeh’ effects and shallow depth of field. The optical construction incorporates two glass-molded aspherical elements within its design to provide high image quality while minimizing distortions and aberrations. Extra-low dispersion (ED) glass element is used throughout to also assist in reducing chromatic aberration and aid in producing seamless sharpness across the image plane. Carl Zeiss T* coating is applied to lens elements to reduce lens flare and ghosting for crisp, clear, and ghost-free images. Compose shots shot your way with a focus hold button, DMF (Direct Manual Focus), and focus ring that doesn’t rotate during autofocus.
