Sony's OSS (Optical Steady Shot) optical image stabilization utilizes internal sensors to detect the most minute of vibrations then eliminate their effects by precisely moving optical element assemblies to compensate, resulting in clearer hand-held images. The Sony 50mm features high precision, quiet linear motors for internal focusing, so only the middle groups of the lens move without changing the overall length of the lens.
