The Sony a7R IV is one of the highest resolution full frame cameras on the market. The a7R IV was designed with an extensive feature set for professionals and knowledgeable enthusiasts seeking maximum detail from their subject matter. With over 60 Megapixels of resolution the a7R IV has the potential to generally extract as much resolving power as attached lenses can produce. To maximize available sharpness the a7R IV has a very customizable focusing system with highly responsive face and eye detection plus real time subject tracking even during continuous shooting. Ten frame per second bursts give you more chances to catch the right moment while 5-axis sensor shift in-body image stabilization helps minimize blur from handheld camera shake.

In 2021 Sony released the Sony a7R IVA, a version of the a7R IV with one revision: an updated 2.36 million dot LCD panel. Then in 2022 the Sony a7R V was introduced with upgrades to the EVF, LCF, IBIS, and other systems but the same sensor. Action and sports photographers should also consider the Sony a1 which trades a modest amount of resolution for high speed optimization and less rolling shutter thanks to it's stacked sensor. Hybrid videographers should look at the Sony A7S III. The a7 IV is good economical alternative if you don't need as much resolution or want to free up more budget for lenses.
