Description

DETAILS

Exquisite image quality and high-end handling available in a truly compact camera.  The Sony Cyber-shot RX100IV features a relatively massive 1" sensor and a high quality large-aperture lens.  f/1.8-2.8 wide angle zoom lens.  The RX100IV's lens is superior to most compact camera optics; the Carl Zeiss 2.9x optical zoom is equivalent to 24-70mm lens (35mm format equivalent) and features an f/1.8-2.8 maximum aperture as well as renowned T* anti-reflective multi-coating.  An integrated control ring surrounds the lens for intuitive access to settings.  Combined with superior ISO sensitivity (thanks to a stacked BSI-CMOS sensor and advanced image processing), you'll enjoy richly-detailed results with remarkably low noise even in challenging lighting conditions.  Whether you're a pro looking for a premium compact camera, or simply want to take your point and shoot photography to the next level, the RX100IV offers excellent quality and operation intuitive to SLR users in a sophisticated, pocket-friendly package you'll want to take everywhere.

Introduced in 2015 following the success of the the Cyber-shot RX100III, the RX100IV (also referred to as the DSC-RX100M4) features an all new stacked BSI-CMOS sensor (for increased imaging area) with integral DRAM cache for noticeably faster frame rates and more responsive processing.  Burst shooting is now possible at speeds up to 16fps with reduced image blackout and electronic shutter speeds are now possible up to 1/32000s with virtually no rolling shutter issues.  The new sensor with DRAM buffer also makes possible 4K video recording at up to 30fps and Full HD 1080P recording at up to 120fps with 100Mbps XAVC S options and simultaneous MP4 recording.  A new Dual Recording option allows 17 megapixel still images to be captured while recording 1080p30 video.  The RX100IV's pop-up OLED electronic viewfinder has received a high resolution upgrade to 2.359 milion dots, it's perfect for bright sunny days and shooting with traditional 3 points of contact camera holding stances.

In 2016 Sony released a follow-up model the Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 V with dedicated phase detection AF and faster still burst frame rates; due to continued demand the RX100IV was not discontinued and very with similar capabilities both models remain popular.
