The Sony E 16 mm f/2.8 (Sony part # SEL16F28) is a prime wide-angle lens for Sony α (or NEX) E-Mount mirrorless digital cameras with APS-C sized sensors.  With it's wide field of view it's an ideal travel lens.  This lens uses an ultra compact pancake design that keeps your camera slim and doesn't take up much space in a bag.  Stylishly designed to match α NEX cameras, the SEL16F28 is an exceptionally portable and versatile lens that's perfect for both photos and video.

Surprisingly flexible, the 16mm offers a big 83° field of view (that's equivalent to a 24mm in 35mm format).  The bright f/2.8 maximum aperture allows outstanding low-light performance.  Sony has designed the lens AF (Auto Focus) operation with videography in mind, the system is responsive yet smooth and quiet.  With a 0.24m (0.8ft) minimum focus distance you can get up close too.

For even more versatility, two different styles of dedicated Sony conversion lenses can be bayonet mounted the front of the SEL16F28.  The 3 element 0.75x magnification Sony VCL-ECU1 & VCL-ECU12 UltraWide Converters transform the 16mm into a 12mm focal length (18mm equivalent in 35mm format) with a broader 103° field of view .  The 4 element Sony VCL-ECF1 & VCL-ECF2 Fisheye Converters offer tremendously wide 180° angle of view images with characteristic fisheye distortion.
