Pentax 645D Digital Camera Body {40MP}

The 645D Digital Camera Body is a high resolution medium format camera from Pentax.  The 645D has a 40 Megapixel 44 x 33mm sensor which is almost 1.7 times larger than a 35mm format.  The 645D is able to produce clean high resolution images with great tonal range, shadow detail and color.

The 645D offers a full compliment of Autofocus, metering, exposure, & image controls.  Paired up with high quality Pentax professional lenses the 645Z offers the clarity and pop that draws the most discerning photographers to medium format.  The built-in lens correction feature maximizes lens performance by using lens specific data to correct images for inevitable optical abberations such as distortion, chromatic aberration, and peripheral illumination.

Numerous white balance, exposure and playback options are available.  ISOs range from 100-1600, and in-camera HDR image captures 3 images and blends them into a single photo to more accurately represent the range of light intensity levels found in real scenes.  The 645D can capture 1.1fps (frames per second) at full resolution, and also offers mirror lock-up, multi-exposure, bracketing and interval functions.

The rugged magnesium alloy body is weather-sealed to resist rain, snow, dust, etc.  It has dual memory card slots (SD/SDHC) for convenience, and operates on a single rechargeable D-LI90 Li-Ion battery.  The 645D is nicely balanced and handles well.  Controls are well placed and it's obvious the camera was designed by photographers for photographers.

Ever since Pentax's first medium-format digital camera launched it's garnered flattering attention from the photography world for delivering 40-megapixel medium format image quality at an attractive price.  In 2014 Pentax introduced the updated 645Z with a new sensor, tilting screen, and other refinements.  The 645D remains a solid choice and it's attractive pricing allows a photogrpaher to budget more for optics.
