Behind the Scenes at WPPI: How Photographers Buy, Sell, and Trade Gear

From March 3–5, we attended WPPI in Las Vegas, connecting with photographers, creators, and longtime KEH customers. WPPI is one of the industry’s largest gatherings for wedding and portrait photographers, and it’s always a great opportunity to observe how people are thinking about their gear, what’s trending in the industry, and so much more.

What stood out most was how intentional photographers are about upgrading, trading, and buying equipment—and that’s exactly what KEH helps make simple every day. From inspiring conversations on the show floor to hands-on discussions about gear, attendees were focused on making smarter decisions—whether buying pre-owned, selling equipment, or trading up.

We loved getting hands-on with attendees, sharing stories, and helping photographers find the tools that fit their vision. No matter the conversation, the theme was consistent: photographers want confidence, clarity, and flexibility when managing their gear.

That’s exactly where KEH comes in.

A Smarter Way To Buy Camera Gear

One of the biggest themes we saw at WPPI was growing confidence in pre-owned gear—especially when there’s a clear standard behind it. Getting gear in people’s hands reinforced what KEH Certified™ really means: equipment that’s been thoroughly inspected, cleaned, and graded by experts so it performs reliably in the field.

For photographers looking to stretch their budget or try something new, buying pre-owned is a practical, strategic choice.

Where To Sell Your Camera Gear

We also spent time walking through real-time quotes with photographers exploring what their gear is worth. Whether they were simplifying their kit or preparing for an upgrade, the focus was on clarity and ease.

KEH’s process is designed to make selling straightforward, with transparent quotes and flexible payout options so photographers can choose what works best for them.

How to Trade In Camera Gear For An Upgrade

For many, the most valuable conversations were around trading gear toward something new. Instead of starting from scratch, photographers were able to turn their current equipment into credit and apply it directly to their next purchase.

It’s a more efficient way to upgrade—and one that keeps gear in use longer.

What we bring to events—and beyond

Events like WPPI are all about connection—but what we bring to the show floor isn’t limited to events.

It’s the same experience we offer every day:

  • Buy with confidence through KEH Certified™—gear you can trust, at a better value
  • Sell with clarity through a transparent, straightforward process
  • Trade to upgrade by turning your current gear into something new to you

Whether you met us at WPPI or are exploring your options for the first time, that’s what KEH is built around.

Events like WPPI help us stay close to what photographers need—and we’re already looking forward to the next one.
